This is an excellent example of how good Indonesian jazz can be. It’s “a combination of talents, skills and experiences of three best friends and amazing musicians [who] have been playing together for [three] decades: Indra Lesmana (piano), Pra Budidharma (bass) and Gilang Ramadhan (drums).” (fr. this review)
The classic tune was written by Bobby Timmons and first heard in 1958 when recorded by Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers …. (here live with Lee Morgan, trumpet, Benny Golson, tenor sax, Bobby Timmons, piano, Jymie Merritt (?), bass, Art Blakey, drums)
And played here by Indra Lesmana’s Quintet of stellar musicians two years ago.
